February. Lots of fresh snow on the alpine mountain tops. Paradise for a keen skier that I am! Yet I decided to go to Varkala in India for a Women Retreat to reconnect with my feminine energy. The seed had grown in my mind that I had lost my feminine energy and it was time to do something about it. So, I researched a few retreats online and choose one run by a European woman in India, for women, by the ocean. This looked like a safe and enjoyable setting for me to embrace my inner goddess and continue my healing journey.
Embracing my feminine side
The retreat had lots of different elements to it; from Sacred Feminine learnings from the ancients, to belly dancing, to aquafloating and much more. And I realised how I was hiding my feminine side to fit into this male-oriented life where I had to be in control, make decisions, initiate, lead. Showing too much feminine lunar energy could have been flaky, undecisive, or not providing enough direction to the team. And, being a young woman in my position, I didn’t want to attract the wrong type of attention; attention on my looks rather than on what I did.
Bringing back my full self at work
As I got back, I had to make a conscious effort to continue to lighten my feminine torch in me, and bring it to work too. And I started opening up more to colleagues and sharing a different self. Peeling some layers of the onion. People never dared to ask anything about my private life; me not being married, they were uncomfortable asking me personal stuff; and I wasn’t forthcoming either; up until this point. So, as I started sharing some of the changes I had experienced, others got intrigued and started opening up too and talking about meditation or spirituality, topics that are not common on a corporate floor.
With Much Love,
Heidi
